  • It's a boy!!

No! Not the baby! I'm only 14 weeks along people! We have been feeling bad and frustrated with our Beagle, he is 12 years old but still has a lot of spunk and he was lonely. We had a puppy but she ran away 6 months ago and since then Disney has been digging out and shredding things. I told Clay we needed another dog, he was thinking I was meaning a puppy. I LOVE puppies, but with a 7 month old and another on the way,  I don't have the time or energy to mess with house breaking and getting up in the middle of the night. So I explained to him I was wanting a DOG, house broken, older like 5 or 6 just to keep Disney company when we leave the house. But I also knew Clay would like a furry friend too. When we had our other dog (not the puppy, the one before that) her name was Lilly Bell, she was Clay's dog and she would snuggle with him and they were close the 7 years we had her. We were hoping the next puppy we had would be Clay's puppy too, but she didn't want to do much with any of us and ended up leaving. Clay wasn't too sure about another dog, he was concerned about me being busy with kids, school, and activities and the baby. But it got to a point where I told him we have to do something, so he got on Craigslist and found a Beagle in McKinney who's 4 years old. The owners said they haven't been able to give him the time they needed and they wanted to give him to a loving family. Clay saw his face and he said "let's ask if he's still available". A free Beagle that is very cute and sweet doesn't last long on Craigslist and this post had been up for 3 days already, but I sent an email asking about him and telling us about our Beagle and all.
I got an email back the next day saying they haven't given Pilot away because they love him so much and they wanted him to go to a good home. They said they have found one other person but liked the fact that we already had a Beagle and asked for more info about us. I told him we don't live far from McKinney and I told him about our kids and how I stay at home, blah, blah, blah. He wrote back saying that they are having a hard time of letting Pilot go, but if they do they are giving him to us. Yesterday, I get a call and it's the man saying he and his wife have decided to let us have him and he would bring him to our house that afternoon. Pilot came about 3 yesterday and he's been doing great! To add to the day, I am watching my parent's two Cocker Spaniels for the weekend, so we have a house full of dogs, but everything is fine! I will get pics up as soon as I find the cable to hook up the camera to my computer.

Oh, how sweet! Beagles are such fun animals. Loud, but fun!

So many people don't realize (or think ahead, I guess) to how much responsibility an animal is, and for how long. I hate when animals end up lonely and neglected, and then the families don't like them because they're always "bad." But I can appreciate someone who realizes they can't give the pet what it needs, and searches out another family who can.

I've been lucky we've had 4 Beagles and only one (the one that ran away) was a little loud.  But we are big fans of them!

Yeah, I felt bad for this guy, he seemed very unhappy to let go and say goodbye. He told me if there was ever a time when we couldn't keep Pilot to let him know so he could get him back.

What a sweet story!  We did the same thing for a dog we had when we were kids.  It literally added years to his life.  He was so much happier.
